The US National Institute on Aging is moving forward with efforts to create a real-world Alzheimer’s disease database as part of its mission to improve, support, and direct more dementia research.

“The newly announced NIA funding for a large-scale Alzheimer’s disease research database is really exciting and a very important step for our field, and the Alzheimer’s Association will be applying for that grant,” said Maria C. “The association is already leading ALZ-NETwhich is a national network of clinicians collecting data — including measures of knowledge, effectiveness and safety — for patients treated with new FDA-approved Alzheimer’s treatments,” Carrillo said. “NIA funding can expand ALZ-NET’s reach to benefit all stakeholders. .”
He added that the Alzheimer’s Association believes everyone should have access to treatment regardless of their registration status.
