Kip Conforti is hiring for a part-time position at one of two parcel shipping stations he owns in Pennsylvania. He has filled those positions with high school and college students for two decades in business, but this time his frontrunner is a man in his 70s.
Conforti has grown tired of younger employees who, he says, are late for their shifts, leave work frequently and spend more time checking social media than chatting with customers. About a year ago, he tried something different: He recruited people who were more likely to carry AARP cards than the latest iPhone.
