They say if the menu of a restaurant doesn’t make your mouth water, chances are you’ll be disappointed with the food. One look at the Punjab Grill Menu is sufficient to give you the goosebumps and to make your stomach roar with appetite!
Punjab Grill puts amazing north-west frontier food on your plate with all its richflavor and authentic taste. We were invited for a tasting the day before yesterday, and boy we had one of the best experiences of our lives! We were welcomed and escorted to our tables by Mr. Suraj, and served by Mr. Purna. Purna did a fantastic job and was very warm and courteous the whole time. We also had the privilege of meeting Chef Manish.
As you step in you are welcomed by the luxuriously warm interiors that just make you loose yourself in its opulence. You are driven to look around in amazement for a minute before taking your seat in cozy chairs or comfy sofas. Shades of brown are used all over with wooden tables and flooring and cream colored seating. Adding to this the warm lights all over really calms you and makes you enjoy your meal slow and steady.
They started us off with Papdi Chaat, a popular North Indian street food that was served with a touch of fine dine. Absolutely indulgent with melt-in-mouth fusion of the various ingredients. Next came Veg Kurkure with a sweet chatni that was quite a first for us. The combination of the cheesy sticks and the sweet sauce was very amazing. And the last in veg starters was Dahi ke Kebab. These were something very different and new. The taste was sort of acerbic, so some of us liked it while others didn’t. But it was a good item.
The drinks they served were the choicest from their elaborate menu. Classic Mojito, Rola Cola, Romantic Jet and Jalandhar Express. These were actually from their cocktail menu, but for us they made them as mocktails specially. Thanks a lot Suraj Sir for keeping in mind our limits. All of the drinks were very amazing, some astringent while others light.
In the non-veg starters we had Mutton Chaamps & Tandoori Jheenga. The Mutton Chaamps really stood out in their taste. Coated with spices full of exotic flavors that tingle your taste buds each time you take a bite, these were absolutely luscious. We really enjoyed this particular item the most. The Tandoori Jheenga were also good. These were large shrimps that you don’t really find in a lot of places.
Then came in the main course which was served in steps combining the curries with breads that were a perfect combination for that particular dish. We started with the traditional Sarso ka Saag & Makki di Roti, with add-ons of butter, gudh and home made pickle. A very homemade style dish, absolutely delicious and mellow in taste. It would really make the Punjabis remember their home. Next was a Mutton curry that was served with Lehsani Naan. The acerbic naan dipped into the juicy curry made it very delectable. The next combo of curry and bread was the famous Murgh Makhani (Butter Chicken) with Latcha Paratha. This combination was the best! Among all other items, this combination was one that we all absolutely loved. The Butter Chicken was mouth-smacking with rich flavors that when eaten with the Paratha makes you loose yourself in its scrumptious taste.
In rice they served us with Mutton Dum ki Biryani. Cooked in the North Indian style to retain the flavors from the choicest cuts of meat. The saffron hued Basmati rice then soak up the flavor, giving you incredible taste in every spoonful you eat. This was accompanied by Raita, which was again made in the Punjabi style.
For desserts, 3 top notch North-Western sweets, the very indulgent Gulab Jamun, mouth-watering Rasmalai and of course Kheer. All of these were very appetizing.
Apart from the delicious North-West delicacies, Punjab Grill offers seasonal cuisines which is sure to delight your taste buds and leave you asking for more!
